Editorial policy

Who writes and reviews CitedFigures content, how we handle accuracy and independence, where AI fits, and how we deal with conflicts of interest.

Last reviewed: June 2026

CitedFigures publishes tools that people use to make real decisions about money, insurance, property, and the law. That carries an obligation, and this policy is how we meet it. It applies to every site in the family.

Who writes and reviews

Content is written and reviewed by named people with relevant operating experience, not produced by an anonymous content mill. Every calculator and article carries a visible byline, and the reviewer is accountable for the math and the citations on the page. The named editor behind the family is Byron Malone. As the family grows, credentialed specialist reviewers are added for domains that require licensed expertise — and where a calculation needs a credential we don’t yet have in-house, we hold it until a qualified reviewer signs it rather than publishing anyway.

Accuracy and corrections

Numbers are sourced to primary references, formulas are published and tested, and time-sensitive figures are dated and monitored for drift. When we find an error — or you report one — we fix it in the open and log it. See the corrections policy →

How we use AI

We use AI tooling to help draft and structure content. We do not let it publish. Every AI-assisted page passes through a human review gate that checks the math, verifies that each citation is real and supports the claim, and edits the prose — before anything goes live. AI is a drafting assistant here, never the author of record and never the source of a number. The accountability stays with a named human.

Independence and money

CitedFigures sites earn revenue through advertising, affiliate relationships, and optional paid tools. Those relationships never determine a calculator’s result or a recommendation, because we don’t make recommendations — the tools produce neutral estimates from your inputs and the cited rules. Where a page contains an affiliate link, it is disclosed. Advertising never appears above the calculator, and we keep ads off the result and high-stakes pages where a placement could compromise the answer.

Not professional advice

CitedFigures calculators produce estimates for planning and education. They are not legal, tax, financial, investment, or insurance advice, and using one does not create a professional relationship. Byron is an operator-author, not a licensed attorney, CPA, or financial advisor. For a decision that matters, confirm the result with a qualified professional.
